Construct approx .25 mile road to connect Rd 7222 with Rd 7224. Decommission approx. 3.8 miles of road at high risk for aquatics. Project is being cancelled to be brought forward at a later date, likely with additional project components.
EA evaluating alternatives that would provide the greatest certainty for long term access to the trails along the Baker River and maintain or restore river processes.
This landscape-scale analysis would improve ecological conditions, enhance recreational opportunities, provide forest products to support local economies, and maintain public access to valuable resources.
Replacement of 2 failing bridges with new bridges in more sustainable locations, with trail reroutes leading to the new locations. Bridges 70'-80' in length each, with about 750' of new trail total.
This project would allow the installation of a 70' trail bridge over the MF Nooksack River. The project would also create a new parking area(up to 10 vehicles), and relocate less than one mile of stock trail to connect to the original trail.
A temporary closure of National Forest System Road (FSR) 6020-110, the Lake Serene Trailhead, the entire length of the Lake Serene Trail, including the Bridal Veil Falls Trail.
The project would relocate 1600 feet of trail. The project would reduce grade and create safer terrain for hikers. The reduction in grade would also promote vegetation health along the trail, by minimizing impacts of erosion.
Construct 1700' trail to Otter Falls. Construct 1.3mi Garfield Ledges trail starting at intersection of Rd 56/5640. Construct trail Mid Fork trailhead (TH) to Taylor R. bridge; add picnic sites.

The Northwest Forest Plan Amendment provides an updated management framework that incorporates best available scientific information, considers public input, recommendations from the Federal Advisory Committee, tribes, and government partners.
Puget Sound Energy proposes to replace a failing power line that is buried along FS Road 68 and bury an additional 3 miles (new) along FSR68 replacing 1 mile of overland buried cable. A temporary cable on the ground surface will be removed.
Improve and maintain boat launching capabilities, provide improved toilet facilities and increase parking capacity to improve visitor safety at the Panorama Point boat launch.
The Pacific Northwest Region is collaborating with nine Forests to develop a region-wide project to protect whitebark pine trees (Pinus albicaulis) that have a high level of white pine blister rust resistance.
Heavy rains during the winter of 2016 damaged FSR 6835 at MP 1.4, where soils became heavily saturated and caused a debris land slide. Project will remove the slide material, place base rock and surfacing, and add a cross drain culvert.
The Snohomish County Sheriffs Office Search and Rescue Unit operates and maintains repeaters at five locations in the Mt.Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. This project seeks to allow the Sheriff's office to provide periodic maintenance and repairs.
